A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois as well as the Will County Chapter monitor legislation that would affect the safety and rights of street and off-road motorcyclists and ATV owners. We also lobby elected officials.
We support and seek sponsors for legislation that protects the safety and rights of all who use the roadways.
We encourage members to become registered voters and political activists. We actively campaign for candidates who. support motorcycle and all off-road vehicle platforms for State and Federal offices.
While our Political Action Committees, ABATEPAC and FEDPAC, make donations to candidates who support our cause, Will County A.B.A.T.E. members support candidates by "putting feet on the street"—walking precincts, manning phone banks, making and planting yard signs.
We have the reputation among those we support as always being willing and able to hel. p their campaigns. Our "sweat equity" has gained their respect and gratitude. We also have the reputation of a very outspoken, informed membership when it comes time to contact Legislators regarding pending bills that would affect us.
At A.B.A.T.E. Legislative Day at the State Capitol the Will County Chapter members lobby their Legislators face-to-face. The Will County Chapter has a significant presence! Many restrictions on dirt bikes, motorcycles and ATV's are enacted at the local level. As a result, Will County A.B.A.T.E. is becoming more politically involved in local community affairs.
